The Walker family plans a surprise party to celebrate Nora's 60th birthday. Each member of the family makes a recording of themselves paying tribute to their mother to be played at the party. When Sarah begins her tribute, Joe seductively suggests that they make their own private film for their viewing only.

Kevin continues seeing Chuck, who wants their relationship to remain a secret to protect his career.

Nora's mother turns up on her doorstep and spoils the surprise by telling her that she has arrived for her birthday celebration.

Senator McAllister helps Kitty resolve the problem of catering by offering the assistance of his own catering staff. As a gesture of her appreciation, she invites him to the party.

Justin is allowed to attend Nora's party and is temporarily released from rehab. Tommy is trusted with his supervision and to make sure he won't be anywhere that alcohol or drugs will be available.

Justin takes the opportunity to meet with his ex-girlfriend, Tyler, and to apologise for his previous behaviour. He is shocked when she tells him she is already seeing someone else.

With the party in full swing, the family decide to play the video they made for Nora. With all eyes on the footage, Joe is mortified when his and Sarah's personal footage appears on the screen.

As the party is made alcohol free, booze is secretly stashed away in Kitty's closet. Kitty takes McAllister inside to have a drink and he admits he would like more from their relationship. She reluctantly declines to take things further to remain professional.

Meanwhile, Nora's mother is distinctly unimpressed when the family reveal that Kevin is gay, Justin is in rehab and William has cheated on Nora throughout her marriage.
